Learning Beyond Adversity (LBA)


Learning Beyond Adversity (LBA) offers alternative online independent learning with the emphasis of re-education and wraparound support to youth (and extending support to families) to foster unique learning experiences and strategies to lead self-determined lives through education attainment, enriched opportunities (skills-development workshops, employment) and community engagement.

These youth are:

  • transitioned, aged-out youth (18+)from high school
  • needing additional, non-traditional school support
  • dropout of traditional, mainstream schooling
  • continuing education (through suspension program at school, expulsion, or mature learning)
  • need upgrading of courses
  • prefer alternative independent learning to achieve OSSGD
  • involvement in the criminal justice system while enrolled in education and impacted by their court conditions
