Promoting Education and Community Health

PEACH is a grassroots group that has been active in the Jane Finch community for almost 35 years.  PEACH supports community youth and their families through Wraparound programming, youth outreach, a music studio and a community kitchen.  We are passionate about helping marginalized and at-risk youth overcome social, mental, and or residential challenges to re-connect with their education and develop skills that will lead to a successful life. Areas of focus continue to include support for education, physical and mental health, housing, food and the arts.  PEACH continues to build on the deep experience supporting community members who have been in contact with the justice system.

PEACH programming responds directly to youth in crisis by offering sustained support that is unavailable elsewhere. Youth workers maintain a non-judgmental approach and are committed to meeting youth on their own terms. These are some of the most difficult to reach youth in the City. Staff are rooted in the community and have cultural-specific and lived experiences congruous with the vulnerable youth in PEACH programs.

PEACH is well-known as a safe and neutral space in the community, where youth find non-judgmental
support to deal with complex and challenging life circumstances. We offer opportunities for youth and their families that are innovative, responsive and completely unavailable elsewhere.

The PEACH vision is to create the conditions for community members to attain self-determined quality of
life, on their own terms. In order to fulfill this vision, PEACH is guided by three pillars:

1) Extraordinary
Learning Opportunities;
2) Engaging Our Community; and
3) Wraparound Supports.

The PEACH facility is over 4,300 square feet, and includes two classrooms, a community kitchen and food storage pantry, a professional quality recording studio and two flexible-use meeting areas, three multi-desk workspaces, a set of “quiet rooms” for reflection and focus, and an indoor-outdoor interface through a large garage door for community events

“I have been working with PEACH staff for over 10 years and they have been an excellent liason in working with students who are in need of wraparound support, who have been involved with the criminal justice system and who experience systematic barriers to achieving education success.”
